Necessity Of Water for Life

The average human body is 75% of water.

Introduction:

The combination of hydrogen and oxygen molecule is known as water or a substance it can be in solid, liquid, and gaseous states.

  • Properties:

It has no smell, taste, and color

It is a polar solvent

It is an excellent solvent

It has a high heat of vaporization

It has cohesive and adhesive properties

It is less dense as a solid than as a liquid

One molecule of water contains two hydrogen atoms and one oxygen atom

It is a universal solvent

It is also a solvent of life

It is a highly abundant substance on by mass is 11.19%and 88.81%of hydrogen and oxygen respectively

Its melting point is 0 C and its boiling point is 100 C.

Importance of water

For living thing:

As we know that every living thing requires water to survive. All organisms require oxygen for respiration. The Marine organism can only breathe in water. Organisms such as human needs water for the breakdown of food molecule or during energy production in respiration. In-plant water is needed for transporting nutrients through the plant body. Nutrients are drained from the root of the soil and transport to all parts of the plant. If water content decrease plant body will fall so it provides strength to the plant body

  • What is living and nonliving thing?
  • The term living things means things that are alive and have life and nonliving means things which can never be alive or have life. Living things show growth and development, use energy, reproduce, they can be unicellular or multicellular and show the behavior of adaption of the corresponding Environment and shows movement and locomotion and locomotion is a phenomenon which is used by the animal to move from one place to another in search of food, water, and shelter

Living things need a nonliving thing to survive. There are three things which are necessary for living. These are food, water, and air. Without food, water, and air, living things die. Sunlight, shelter, and soil are also important for living things. In an ecosystem living things fulfill their need from living and nonliving things is an Environment within which organism lives

Why water is important?

Role of water in the human body

It is said that water is especially important and it makes up the major part of our body and it is important for our health and here is the question arises why important it is

Water is involved in many essential functions of our body such as

  • Excretion of waste out of our body
  • In temperature regulation
  • Proper brain functioning

We get water by drinking and food also contains a minor amount of water. Try to learn more methods that can improve your health.

  1. Water helps in the production of Sliva.

2. It is important for our oral health. The major composition of Sliva is made up of water. It provides lubricity to our mouth.

3. Water regulates body temperature

4. Water protects our tissues, spinal cords, and joints

5. Water helps to excrete waste through urination and defecation.

6.Water aids in the prevention of constipation

7. Water helps in the process of digestion.

8. With the help of water physical performance increases.

9.In the body nutrients are absorbed by water.

10. Water helps to lose weight.

11. Oxygenation in the body is improved by water.

12.Water helps in the body's defense system.

13. Water helps in increasing body metabolism

14. For boosting energy-water helps.

15. Water leads to a good mood.

16. Water also makes the skin glow and shine.

17. Water protects the body from dehydration.

18. Water protects the body’s organs from shrinking.

Why water is important for living organisms?

Water as a polar solvent

Water is a polar solvent because it can be attracted to both electrical charges whether it is positive or negative. the hydrogen side is attracted by oxygen

2. Water as a temperature regulator:

This chemical reaction is especially important to cellular activity. Enzymes or proteins in chemical reactions work as catalysts to start a chemical reaction. These are heat sensitive and work at a specific temperature. optimum temperature enzyme activity is greatest because when temperature increases the enzyme activity and the rate of reaction also increases as the normal body temperature of the human body is 97 F OR 37.2 C. When enzymes are active and catalysis is highest then the enzymes are at their optimum temperature Our bodywork best at this temperature, any change in this temperature disturbs the normal function of our body if your body temperature exceeds normal temperature it means you have a fever caused by an infection or illness.

AS WE KNOW THAT WATER HAS HIGH HEAT OF CAPACITY MEANS IT TAKE A LARGE QUANTITY OF HEAT TO RAISE ITS TEMPERATURE WATER ABSORBS A LOT OF HEAT WITHOUT RAISING BODY TEMPERATURE NORMAL TEMPERATURE HELPS ENZYMES FOR PROPER FUNCTIONING AND ALSO PREVENTS IT FROM DENATURE.

3. WATER AS A METABOLITE:

  • All the chemical reaction within organisms or in the body is known as metabolism and water work as a metabolite or involved in doing so that water is necessary for the survival of living things, both in plant and animal in plant water helps in photosynthesis .it is a process by which sunlight is converted into food and in the product, glucose is formed and used by the plant as a portion of food.

In animal water helps in the process of respiration in this process water helps to break down (ATP) ADENOSINE TRIPHOSPHATE INTO ADENOSINE DIPHOSPHATE (ADP) AND PHOSPHORIC ACID. In the product, cellular energy releases after the completion of respiration water formation occur from oxygen and the hydrogen removes waste through the body

4.water as a living environment:

As we have already discussed water is especially important for the survival of the organisms and for to lives and fish can only breathe in water if water is not available for them, they cannot survive the water also act as an insulator for fish in winter. It keeps the fish warm even when ice is formed on the upper surface of the water and all the marine organism’s life depends upon water

5. IMPORTANCE OF WATER IN ANIMAL LIFE:

ALL LIFE DEPENDS ON WATER

As we know that the major part of animals is made of water it is important for many important functioning. All the chemical reaction uses water as a medium and acts as temperature regulation. Animals dopant for evaporation for maintaining body temperature.

TEMPRATURE REGULATION:

Animal body temperature should remain normal and water acts as a buffer against overheating because water has a high heat capacity and water excrete from the body in the form of sweat then evaporation occurs and down the body to maintain temperature

PH REGULATION:

The PH of water means the number of acids and bases at equilibrium. It is mostly controlled by carbon dioxide and bicarbonate by increasing the concentration of carbon dioxides, therefore lowering PH. On the other hand, decreasing causes it to rise

ENERGY PRODUCTION AND HYDROLYSIS:

ATP breaks down is occur by hydrolysis. When sugar metabolizes in the digestive tract and transfers to all cell of the body by a molecule that formed. as we know water contains two hydrogen atom and one oxygen atom to a molecule of ATP, OR ADENOSINE TRIPHOSPHATE, pulls away one phosphate atom away from this molecule and forms ADENOSINE DIPHOSPHATE. The breaking of this bond releases energy which gives power to the body.

WATER HELPS IN THE PROCESS OF DIGESTION:

water in the form of mucous along the stomach wall protects the stomach from eating up by the acid during digestion. Water passes directly from the mouth into the intestine and stomach without any need for the digestion process. As we have discussed the earlier major composition of Sliva is made up of water and Sliva is for the breakdown of food.

FOR THE MOVEMENT OF FOOD IN THE DIGESTIVE TRACT AND IT PROVIDE LUBRICATION.

WATER AS A LUBRICANT IN EYELIDS:

It also acts as a lubricant in the eyes and protects the eyes from rubbing

WATER AS A JOINT LUBRICATION:

In an animal skeleton a cartilage present between bones which provides protection and lubrication to the bone and from the friction by sudden jerks. Cartilage is made up of water and without cartilage will not be able to move
